FAQ's:

What do I need to do to preserve my wedding gown (and accessories)?

We make it easy for you! Bring your wedding gown to our store and we will send it for you or purchase a kit and do it from home.

Do I need to have my gown cleaned before sending it to Wedding Gown Preservation Company?

No. WGP handles all of the cleaning necessary to ensure a proper preservation of your wedding gown.

Can I open up the preservation chest any time in the future, and will that jeopardize or void the guarantee? Is the chest vacuum sealed?

Wedding Gown Preservation Company does NOT vacuum seal your preservation chest. Vacuum sealing traps in fumes and moisture, which leads to mold, mildew, and eventually the deterioration of the fabric. Additionally, the manufacturer's guarantee will not be voided if you open the chest to inspect your gown; in fact the manufacturer supplies special gloves to be worn when touching your preserved garment(s). WGP also will enclose sealing squares to place inside the seams of the chest, to securely attach the top of your preservation chest after inspection. Removing the gown entirely from the chest, and wearing the gown will void your guarantee. Keep in mind, if your gown was handled excessively, or soiled, it should be cleaned and preserved again.

Will I be able to view my wedding gown without opening the chest?

You are able to see your gown (and veil) through the display window on the chest. Other items are positioned near the bottom of the window, where possible, or underneath the gown and are also treated with the preservation process as suited to the item.

The wedding gown preservation kit covers the cost of your gown being cleaned and preserved. You may also send up to 3  items such as- your veil, headpiece, garter, gloves, moneybag, &  handkerchief.  Your slip, shoes, & flower girl dress are an additional charge. Please refer to the order form inside the kit for pricing information. Please note: All items placed in the preservation chest with your gown MUST be cleaned by WGP in order to be guaranteed when placed with your gown.

How soon should I send my dress in for preservation and cleaning?

WGP recommends that your gown is cleaned and preserved as soon as possible. However, they claim the best results within the first three years after you wedding. We recommend that if you are waiting to decide if you would like to have your gown cleaned and preserved, one should keep their gown in a cotton, breathable garment bag. By keeping it inside a cotton garment bag it helps to keep both light away from the fabric/beading, and also allows for your dress to breathe. You should NEVER store your wedding dress in an attic or basement, as these areas of the home often have the greatest range of temperature which can jeopardize the fabric of your garment.
